Grave Relief of Nike of Thasos

This funeral stele is decorated with a relief and rosettes and palmettes at the top. The scene shows a seated young woman shaking hands with a standing young man, while a small child holding a leaf stands at her knee. The handshake poignantly encapsulates that moment when the family have to say farewell to this woman forever
