Bronze male head from Herculaneum

This small head is fairly typical of the kind of bronze artefact which decorated Roman villas in the early imperial period. Its compact nature and style make this head rather later in date than the Doryphoros, to which it bears a resemblance. Like him, it probably represents an athlete
